2. 62% of the Austria's land is covered by Austrian Alps
3. The world's largest emerald is displayed in Imperial Treasury in Vienna

Day 1 (27th August 2010)
As we had early morning 7:25AM flight to Munich (Frankfurt) from London Heathrow, we left our home at 4:45AM to catch the pre-booked Rail Air. Reached Munich at around 10:15AM and then caught another flight to Graz, Austria. Flight to Graz was the smallest flight that I travelled with. I think, it was able to accommodate max 20-25 passengers. We reached Graz at around 12:30PM. Our friend Suchi and her husband were waiting just outside the airport for us. Friends' milana after 15 years!! Since, our plan was to stay in their home and do sightseeings for couple of days, directly travelled to their home from the Airport. Had unforgettable great lunch in their home. Talked for a while as we had lot to catch up and then went to Graz - Eggenberg Palace. It wasn't that big but enjoyed not crowded and calm place. Then after tea at their home and went to clock tower.

It was very cold and pouring as well, so couldn't enjoy much in Graz. Walked around the city for a while and then went to have our dinner at a Pizza Restaurant. The largest ever Pizza I saw or I ate!. Had good and relaxing dinner and then back to home for some more chats.

Day 2 (28th August 2010)
We had planned to visit Vienna this day. Since, there is a long journey from Graz to Vienna, we had to leave Suchi's home at 6:00AM. My friend had packed good amount of breakfast and other stuffs to fill us in. We reached capital of Austria at 9:00AM. First sight seeing was Schonbrunn Palace, it's a palace with garden around. Walked around the garden and enjoyed the horse ride to cover rest of the garden. Didn't visit the palace inside as we had to cover quite a lot of places in a day.

Then we visited a cathedral St. Stephen's Cathedral. Also watched a very traditional procession near the cathedral. Then walked around the Hofburg Palace and parliament of Austria. The streets around the parliament was very beautiful not much crowded, neat and beautifully maintained. Took some rest in the Volksgarten. Satty and me both liked Vienna, nature was so colourful with autumn leaves and so hygiene. Said bye bye to Vienna and caught train to Graz at 5:00PM. Again had great homemade dinner and talked for a long as it was our last day in their home.

Day 3 (29th August 2010)
This day we planned to travel from Graz to Salzburg to cover some places in Salzburg. On the way to Salzburg, we planned to visit the Ice Cave. I was initially trying not to visit as I came to know that we need to travel in cable car, also it includes walk across the steep roads. As Satty was very much interested on this, I had no choice. I must agree that had I not visited this, I would have lost the most interesting sightseeing of this tour. Though it included steep roads, cable cars, it was a great experience. We could see stunning sceneries at the top and also weather was very promising. Ice cave was just awesome where ice was formed into different shapes and maintained very naturally. There was a guide inside the cave who used to explain in different languages. We almost climbed 700 steps up and down. Had our lunch at a restaurant near the Ice cave which was 1575 m above the sea level.

Then from Ice cave reached Salzburg around 6:00PM. After taking some rest in Mercure Hotel, walked around the streets of Salzburg for a while and then finished our dinner in Indian restaurant Taj Mahal.

Day 4 (30th August 2010)
In the morning we had great buffet breakfast. I must agree that Mercure hotel is the best in everything. In the morning, we visited Hellbrunn Palace with a guided tour. Had really great fun in this palace with all magical fountains. It's a palace of all surprises and wonders where fountains work just based on the water pressure. We spent quite a good time in this calm palace and then went to Salzburg Dom. Then we walked towards Salzburg fortress and took funicular to reach the top of fortress. It was so breezy and cloudy which made us unable to see anything or even to stand for a while. After the fortress we visited Mozart Museum and then had good walk  near the Salzach river. As a last sight seeing of the tour we went to Mirabell Gardens which had unbelievable coloured flowers.
